OBITUARY

Linda Marie Stephens

May 15, 1959July 18, 2021

Linda Marie Stephens of Hobe Sound, FL age 62, passed away on July 18, 2021 after a courageous battle with pancreatic cancer.

Linda was born on May 15, 1959 in Pensacola, FL to the late Alfred and Lillian Klim. She graduated from Toms River North High School and then Montclair State University with a BA degree in speech therapy. She taught at South Toms River elementary. Linda had a passion for teaching and was an advocate for making sure children overcame obstacles and could reach their full potential. She retired in 2007. She married John Stephens in 1999. John and Linda travelled extensively, starting with a marriage proposal in front of the Eiffel Tower, then trips across Europe, Mexico and the Caribbean. They moved to Tequesta, Florida in 2007 and now reside in Hobe Sound.

To say Linda was outgoing would be an understatement, she never truly retired. She had an incredible eye and talent for interior design & painting. Perfectionist and Hard worker were common words used to describe her. Linda’s beautiful smile could light up the darkest room, she had a true gift of hospitality – always making sure people felt welcome and important. She loved her community and was always lending a hand when needed. She enjoyed gardening, painting, floating in her pool, going to social events and hosting parties but her greatest joy was “walking her boys”. She had a compassion for animals, especially those in need of love and a forever home.

Linda is survived by her husband John, furbaby Guinesss, brother Bruce Klim and wife Linda, Eagle River AK, brother Gary Klim, Hobe Sound, FL, cousins Christine Mallek, Edward Klim, Elizabeth Dill and Joanne Kellgren.

A Celebration of Life will be held Sunday, July 25th 11:00am-3:00pm at The Retreat at Seabranch. 8700 SE Retreat Dr. Hobe Sound.

I don’t think anyone from The Retreat will forget the sight of John and Linda, tall and tan, walking their 2 beautiful, sleek Vizslas throughout the neighborhood, stopping to talk to friends and neighbors.
Such a sight to behold.
We shall remember Linda, like that!

My heart is filled with sadness for my true friend. She was so good to me when I worked at STRE. Even after her retirement I made a few trips to visit & when she was visiting Jersey, she came over my house to help me with several jobs. She was so caring & the fun we had together.

John, my deepest sympathies. Linda will forever be in our hearts.

Dear John and family: We live at The Retreat, and were so very sorry to learn of Linda’s passing. I miss seeing Linda on her morning walks with your two dogs, now only one. We would always stop to chat. Linda will be missed by all who knew her at The Retreat. She painted our entire house inside before we moved in, and what an unbelievable paint job. Please know that our thoughts and prayers are with you and your family at this very sad time.
With Sympathy,
