I was in Marks reenactment company for approximately 15 years. He was my Captain, confidant, friend and pre coffee, coffee supplier. I enjoyed so much of sitting by the fire at 4:30 or 5:00 in the morning with him and my brother talking, cutting up and listening to them tell stories of old time reenactments. You will be truely missed. And remember not to fall in the tent up there with the lord. Love you man

I grew up with the Helwigs, and fondly remember Rosemary's "big brother". My condolences to his family.

Captain Helwig led the Straw Hats with bearing and dignity. We were all better for having served under his leadership. From all of the members of the Pawnee Guard, a unit birthed by the Straw Hats, we tender our most sincere respects and condolences to Cindy and the family. I have his Marine coat and his spirit lives on whenever the Pawnee takes the field. Captain Ron.

I only knew Mark though my years of working with Cindy. As I know Cindy to be one of the kindest and most helpful persons I have ever worked with (always there when you needed her guidance), I am just so sorry for her and all of the family's loss. The Poeppelman Family has always had the Helwig Family in our thoughts and now will forever be in our prayers
