Mary E. Mannix

Mary was born in Cleveland, Ohio, and grew up outside of Detroit in Bloomfield Hills, Michigan. At just 18 years old, she made the courageous move to Florida on her own to attend Rollins College in Winter Park, beginning a life filled with adventure, family, and many wonderful accomplishments.

Mary loved the beach, staying active, and interior design, but above all, she was happiest when she was surrounded by her family. She was known for her heart of gold, wonderful personality, and, of course, always being fashionable.

While attending college, Mary worked in sales before eventually landing her dream job at Walt Disney World, where she worked with Disney Vacation Club as a Senior Vacation Club Real Estate Associate. A few years later, she married David Mannix, and together they welcomed their two children, James and Grace.

Some of Mary’s most treasured memories were made with her longtime best friend, Jodi Wilterdink, Jodi’s husband, Matt, and their children, Bethany, Mary Catherine, and Brian. Their visits from up north brought the families together to create unforgettable memories with all of the children at the Happiest Place on Earth.

After more than 10 years of living the Disney dream, Mary and her family relocated to the beach. Drawing upon her real estate experience and her natural creativity, Mary found another passion in interior design. She took great pride in creating beautiful spaces for others to call home.

Of all her accomplishments throughout her life, however, nothing made Mary prouder than being a mother.

Mary is survived by her children, James Mannix and Grace Mannix; her husband of nearly 10 years and very dear friend, David Mannix; her brothers, Dennis McCarthy and his wife, Cindy, and John McCarthy and his wife, Laura; her nieces and nephews, Connor McCarthy, Meg McCarthy, Jack McCarthy, and Lilah McCarthy; as well as many extended family members and dear friends.

She was preceded in death by her father, John Micheal McCarthy, and her mother, Judith Ann McCarthy.

A funeral Mass will be scheduled at a later date.

Mary will be remembered as a wonderful mother, daughter, sister, and the very best of friends. Her heart of gold, her laughter, and the kindness she shared so freely with others will never be forgotten. She will be deeply missed and forever loved by all those fortunate enough to have known her.
