Norbert Walter Dalkiewicz, age 77, of Hobe Sound, FL, passed away Saturday morning February 4, 2023. He was born on August 14, 1945 in Oneida, NY to the late Anna (Szlosek) and Walter S. Dalkiewicz. Norbert attended Vernon Verona Sherrill Central School and graduated from the Cardinal Farley Military Academy in Rhinebeck, NY. He received a Bachelor of Arts degree in Business Administration and Management from Boston College where he played football and was a member of Alpha Kappa Psi. Norbert also earned a Master of Arts degree in Business Administration and International Marketing from the American University in Washington, DC.
Norbert began his professional career as an International Hotel & Corporate Executive with the Sheraton Hotel Corporation. He participated in the development and on site-management of high-end hotels and resorts throughout the USA, Europe & North Africa and The Caribbean including England, Switzerland, France, Belgium, Morocco, Tunisia, Egypt and Israel as well as Antigua (W.I.), Virgin Gorda (B.V.I), and St. Thomas (U.S. V.I.).
Norbert met the love of his life when he was deployed to London, England by the Sheraton in 1974. On December 2, 1978, he and Keris Jones were united in marriage at St. Christopher’s Church, Crandford, Middlesex, England. Keris stated, “I found my prince,” and she and Norbert celebrated a loving 44-year union as husband and wife, best friends, and life companions.
Throughout his life, Norbert enjoyed all sports and was a keen tennis player, golfer, and skier. He was an avid follower of the Boston College Eagles and Boston Red Sox. And he enjoyed keeping up with current world affairs, news and politics. He was a gentleman in every sense of the word. A man of quiet demeanor and great patience who could and would stand his ground if needed with a dry sense of humor who enjoyed meeting new people, new places and the convivial company of family and friends. He loved animals, especially the three English Cocker Spaniels he and Keris raised and adored during the course of their marriage, Duchess, Melody and Rosie, each one of them accompany them wherever they went.
Norbert leaves behind to cherish his memory his wife, Keris, sister Eleanor D. Anton of Fayetteville, NY, niece and goddaughter Mary Catherine Heller (Marc) of Syracuse, NY, nephew John J. (Terrie) Anton of Chapin, SC, and great-nephews Justin and Hunter, brother-in-law Peter (Elaine) Jones their daughters Keris Louise (Daniel) Bell, Nina (James) Doran and their families, plus numerous cousins and extended family in the U.S. and the United Kingdom as well as many friends he had throughout the U.S., the United Kingdom and worldwide. Norbert was predeceased by his sisters Janette Dalkiewicz and Regina D. McLaughlin, and brother-in-law Walter McLaughlin.
Family and friends are invited to attend a funeral service on Tuesday, February 21, 2023 at 1:00PM at Aycock Funeral Home Young & Prill Chapel in Stuart, FL 34997.
