

He was the beloved husband of Eileen for 52 wonderful years and a devoted father to Jason, his wife Kristina and Colleen Patrice. He was also a proud grandfather to three cherished grandchildren: Aidan, Tiegan and Cainin.
Richard was the loving son of the late Alice and John Blewitt. A proud patriot, he bravely served his country during the Vietnam War. During his tour of duty (1969–1970), he served with distinction in both the 25th and 4th Infantry Divisions. He remained a dedicated member of the American Legion throughout his life.
Following his military service, Richard enjoyed a successful career with Con Edison as an engineering supervisor for well over three decades. As a beloved co-worker and friend to many, he was highly respected throughout his years there.
Richard enjoyed life to the fullest and especially loved taking cruises, world travel and Thoroughbred racing. He was a huge fan of Elvis Presley. While home in his later years, he could often be found relaxing in front of the Hallmark Channel. His love of Christmas-themed movies was unparalleled.
He was a long-time resident of Floral Park, New York, where he built many lifelong friendships and memories before later residing in Montego Cove, Stuart, Florida.
He will be remembered for his warm smile, his big heart, his deep love of family, his unwavering patriotism, and the joy he found in life’s adventures. Richard’s memory will live on in the hearts of all who knew and loved him.
