He served until 1966 and received an Honorable Discharge after serving as Finance Officer, U. S. Army Personnel Center, Oakland, CA.

While living in the Los Angeles area, Rich trained for and then qualified as a USFSA Competition judge of figure skating and continued this hobby when the family made their move to Toledo, OH.
Richard loved to travel with his wife, and their favorite place was Tuscany, Italy. Over the years, they shared their love of Tuscany and Italian culture with family—touring wineries, taking cooking classes, exploring historic sites, and enjoying memorable meals together.
So deep was Rich’s affection for Tuscany that, in retirement, he served as the U.S., Canada, and Mexico listing agent for To Tuscany, an Italian real estate rental company, helping others experience the place he cherished so much.
He adored his family and along with Char, made many trips to Chicago for football and soccer games, volleyball matches and golf matches to cheer on their grandchildren, attend graduations and wedding ceremonies. Rich and Char made one last move to Sandhill Cove which they love.
Rich’s motto was “Always do your best and Never give up”!
