Richard R. Johnson, age 64, passed away Sunday August 3rd at his home in Port St. Lucie, Florida. Rick, as he was known to by his family and closest friends, was born in Warwick Rhode Island, where he lived until retiring to Florida in 1999.
A graduate of Rhode Island Municipal Police Academy, Rick proudly served as a Police Officer for the Warwick Police Department until his disability from an injury sustained in the line of duty. While living in Florida Rick was an avid boater and lover of the ocean. His favorite days were spent on the water, with his family, or in his yard in which he took great pride. He was a lover of all animals and adored his pets.
Rick was a loving father to his two children - daughter, Meghan Johnson of Charleston, SC and son, Richard J. Johnson of South Kingstown, RI. In addition to his children, Rick is survived by his two brothers Joseph Johnson Jr. of Stuart, FL, Michael Johnson and wife Leanne of Jupiter, FL, along with his beloved nieces, extended family and close friends in both Florida and Rhode Island.
