Born in Forest City, North Carolina, Donn had been a resident of Royal Palm Beach for over 40 years before moving to Wellington. He was a proud veteran of the United States Marine Corps and graduated from the University of Florida with a BA in land surveying, a decision that would prove to be a successful one for many years to come.
In the early 1980s, Triangle Land Surveying was born and grew to be one of the most successful land surveying and engineering firms in Western Palm Beach County. Donn, along with his business partner, Chris Gailey, helped guide some of the biggest builders with their surveying expertise. Donn recently resigned as the President Elect from the Gold Coast Land Surveyors Council and was still working in the field prior to his passing.
In his spare time, Donn loved to sail and adored spending time with his family. He was also a die-hard, lifelong Florida Gators fan who bled orange and blue and loved to watch and cheer them on. Donn also loved classical music and could be heard blasting it while he drove his “hot rod,” a Chevy Corvette.
He is survived by his daughters, Laura Ruth Barbone (Steve) of Stuart, FL; April Jean Hart (Tim) of Lake Clarke Shores, FL; his grandchildren, Chloe Rayne Konrady, Emma Rose Konrady, and Coleman Campbell Hart, and his first great-grandson, Coast Konrad Franco.
Donn is also survived by his close family friends, Randy and Leslie Gailey, along with Chris and Cliff Gailey and their respective families; Ann Owens and family; Mike and Darlene Campbell and family, Judy Campbell and family, and his favorite cat, Bubba.
Donn lost his first wife, Melanie Hart, in 1997. He was lucky to find love again when he met Julia Ann Campbell several years later. Together they created a life of love, laughter, some light sparring, and the best memories anyone could ask for. They were together for over 25 years and tied the knot just 4 years ago. Julia passed away last year on June 23rd, and Donn's heart never truly healed.
A celebration of Donn’s life will be held on Saturday, July 18, 2026, from 11:00am-2:00pm with a memorial service to begin at 12:00pm at Dorsey E. Earl Smith Funeral Home, 3041 Kirk Road in Lake Worth. Please sign his online guestbook at www.youngandprill.com.
