Roc was a second generation Italian and experienced a very rich ethnic upbringing surrounded by many family relatives. He was very proud to be a part of a rich heritage of Italian ancestry. He graduated from Draper High School, Schenectady NY in 1957. Rocky served in the United States Army, 82nd Airborne Division (specializing in parachute assault operations into hostile areas which has remained active since World War I and World War II) Company A, 1st Airborne Brigade, 504th Infantry for 3 ½ years with an honorable discharge as a PFC (T) E-3. Rocco was stationed in Germany and also trained in arctic survival skills at the Northern Warfare training center in Alaska.
After his military service Rocky married the love of his life, Eleanor Gilda Aceto of Scotia New York. They then moved to East Hartford Connecticut where he worked for Pratt and Whitney Aircraft (PWA) in East Hartford while attending the University of Connecticut. He would eventually graduate with a BS in Economics at the University of Tulsa. They would have their first born Dean James Angerami in 1962 while in Connecticut. Rocky then moved his family to Tulsa, Oklahoma where he worked as a Electron Beem Welder at the American Airlines Maintenance Repair Center for 4 ½ years.
