Tammy was born on January 30, 1963, in Fort Lauderdale, Florida. A vibrant, loving soul, she brought laughter, warmth, and style everywhere she went. Her career as a hairdresser reflected not only her creativity but also her deep love of connecting with others. She owned and operated her own salon, later returning to work there after selling it, creating lifelong friendships with clients and colleagues along the way.
A devoted single mother to her daughter Trista, Tammy’s life took a joyful turn when she met Mike Bumgardner — who knew the moment he laid eyes on her that she was the one. They were married on September 20, 2003, aboard a cruise ship in Fort Lauderdale, with six-year-old Trista by their side. Together, they built a home filled with love, laughter, and family.
The Florida Keys became Tammy and Mike’s favorite escape — a place she treasured for its sun-soaked days by the pool, beach walks, and relaxed evenings with friends at local bars. She also loved vacationing in Jamaica. Whether hosting holiday dinners, organizing happy hours, or welcoming those with nowhere else to go, Tammy had a gift for making people feel at home.
Her spirit and humor live on through her beloved parrot, Lilo — rescued during a hurricane — who still laughs just like Tammy did.
Tammy was the heart of her family. When her grandson Grayson was little, she lovingly stepped in as his daily caregiver so Trista could work. She cherished that time and poured her heart into helping raise him.
She is preceded in death by her father, who passed when she was just six years old; her mother, Shirley Ann Brasaemle (2014); and her brother, Upson Hunt (2024).
She is survived by her devoted husband, Mike Bumgardner of Stuart, FL; her daughter, Trista Hunt; her cherished grandson, Grayson Sesta; her brother, Zora “ZB” Hunt; her aunt, Lorraine Hitchcock; her uncles, Alfred and Michael McCormick; and many dear friends and extended family who loved her deeply.
Her memory lives on in all who were blessed to know her.
A celebration of Tammy’s life will be held on Monday, May 12, 2025, at Aycock Funeral Home, Young & Prill Chapel, 6801 SE Federal Hwy, Stuart, FL 34997. Visiting hours will take place from 4:00 PM to 5:30 PM, with a funeral service to follow from 5:30 PM to 6:00 PM.
We hope to see all those who knew and loved Tammy as we gather to honor her life, her legacy, and the love she shared so freely.
