Thomas Harvey Bennin

July 28, 1950April 28, 2020

Thomas H. Bennin (Tom) was born in Sheboygan on July 28, 1950, the son of Angeline (Jerale) and Harvey Bennin.

He led a wonderful and rich life. In his professional life he was a business litigation attorney, thoroughly enjoying the competition and challenge of seeing that his clients were well represented.

In his retirement he loved reading, thinking, and talking about many topics, including philosophy (especially Wittgenstein), good writing (ala Nabokov), political science and theory, the Constitution, Russia, music, and best of all, mysteries. He became an accomplished bread maker and was renowned for his delicious scones.

He will be desperately missed by his wife of 40 years, Melanie, his family, and his friends.

He was preceded in death by his parents Angeline and Harvey Bennin, and his sisters Jane (Frank) Kremer and Lois Bennin. He is survived by his wife Melanie, his sister Mary (Jorge) Cardona; two nieces, Anne (Dean) Strauss, Elizabeth (Tim) Flanigan; and two nephews Joe (Stephanie Adamany) Kremer, and Oliver Luis Cardona.

In lieu of flowers or gifts of money, we ask that you send prayers or make a donation to your favorite charity in Tom's name.

God be with you, Tom! We miss you.

I remember Tom well, and worked with him during the early days of introducing technology to the firm. He was exceptionally bright, a delight to have debates with, and very supportive. I was lucky and proud to have met him, work with him, and learn from him.

I was very sorry to learn of Tom's death. He and I were colleagues at Faegre & Benson for many years. Tom was unfailingly helpful, courteous, and wise. He was a good man.
