Timothy Garvey

He was born in New York, New York on July 13, 1940, and had moved to Coral Gables, FL in 1954, before moving to Stuart in 1975.

Tim had served his country in the Air Force as an electronics/communications officer after graduating from Florida State University with majors in both finance and management.

Prior to moving to Stuart as the 2nd State Farm Insurance Agent, Tim worked with metropolitan Dade County as a Personnel officer, Eastern Airlines as a Financial Analyst, New England Life as a Financial Consultant, as well as Merrill Lynch and Shearson Hammill as an Investment Executive.

Active in the community, Tim served as President of the following organizations, the Florida State University Alumni Association of Dade County, Coral Gables Jaycees, Stuart/Jensen Beach Jaycees, Stuart/Martin County Chamber of Commerce, Hospice of Martin and St. Lucie County, Economic Council of Martin County and as a director of Martin Memorial Hospital Foundation.

He is survived by his wife, Bonnie; son, Tim Jr. of Jupiter, FL; daughter, Jennifer Cottom (Anthony) and their children, Ethan and Ashton of Orlando.

A Celebration of Life will be held on February 22, 2013, at 1:00 PM at St. Joseph Catholic Church in Stuart.
