

Born in Baldwin, New York , she had previously lived in Freeport, Long Island before moving to the Stuart area in 1971. While in New York, Mrs. Bateson worked at Crown Drug Store in Hempstead for 20 years.
She enjoyed singing in the choir and taught Sunday school at the Roosevelt Presbyterian Church in New York. Mrs. Bateson was also one of the founding members of Hobe Sound Methodist Church, where she sang in the choir, worked in the church thrift store and loved participating in the Christmas bazaars.
Mrs. Bateson is survived by her daughter, Barbara (Birton) Farrell of Stuart, FL; son, Morris (Laura) Bateson of Riverton, CT; sisters, Beverly Kollmer, and Linda Lockwood; sister in law, Marion Sellers; grandchildren, Janine (Fred) Huggins and Wayne (Gail) Farrell, Daniel (Justine), Missy and Jessie; six great grandchildren, and many loving nieces and nephews.
She was predeceased by her husband, Morris Bateson.
A graveside service will be held at Forest Hills Memorial Park in Palm City at 10:30am on Tuesday, August 26, 2014.
