William H Mercer

Born in White Plains, New York, Mr. Mercer had been a previous resident of West Palm Beach, Florida before moving to the Stuart area in 1983.

He was a firefighter in White Plains, New York, Palm Beach, FL, and for the City of West Palm Beach, FL. for a total of 27 years of service. Mr. Mercer retired as a fire captain/assist chief. Mr. Mercer was a founding member of RSVP singing group. He was a member of the Westchester Club is Stuart, as well as the Lions Club.

Mr. Mercer was a member of the Stuart Congregational Church in Stuart, FL.

He was a veteran of the United States Navy and proudly served our country during World War II.

Mr. Mercer is lovingly survived by his son, William H. Mercer, Jr. (Anita) of Powell, TN; son, Thomas C. Mercer (Marilyn) of Groton, MA; son, Mark J. Mercer (Cindy), of Palm City, FL; daughter, Patricia A. Nunnink (Chris) of Charlotte, VT; daughter, Donna M. Coyne (Steven) of Lakeway, TX; thirteen grandchildren, and several great grandchildren.

Mr. Mercer was predeceased by his first wife of 49 years, Greta, and by his second wife of 13 years, Virginia.

A memorial service will be held on Sunday, September 11, 2011 at 2:00 PM At Stuart Congregational Church in Stuart, FL.
