She lived a full life and enjoyed her passion for Ice and Roller skating into her late 80's. She was born in Newton, MA and lived in Springfield, MA before moving to Hialeah, FL in 1949 and then to Stuart in the early 70's.
Her skating career was unusual in that she competitively roller skated in Massachusetts but switched to ice skating in Florida. She Ice skated in a number of shows but never became a professional because she was a wife and a mother to 4 boys. She was truly a great athlete and she was still jumping rope at 92. She also loved the ocean and would frolic in the waves with her kids. She even learned to boogie board in her late 80's. She was also a part owner of Brian's Patio Furniture and worked their part time for many years.
She is survived by her 4 son's Donald, Norman, Brian and Bruce and a brother Norman Van Tassel as well as many grandchildren and great grandchildren. A memorial service will be held at Aycock Funeral Home Young & Prill Chapel 6801 SE Federal Hwy, Stuart, Fl at 6 PM Friday, February 12, 2016.
