

Betty was born in Paris, Tennessee, on August 9, 1938, to Lavinia Inez Hart and Fred Hart.
She worked as a cafeteria worker at several schools in Virginia over the years after successfully raising her family. Betty was a prayer warrior who consistently and faithfully prayed for her family and supported them in everything they did. She was an active member for over 40 years with Good Shepherd Church of the Nazarene in Stuarts Draft. In her spare time, she loved to camp, travel, and loved her home state of Tennessee. The Virginia Nazarene Retreat Center in Buckingham VA held a special place in her heart where she made many friends and looked forward to visiting every year.
In addition to her parents, Betty was preceded in death by her beloved husband of 66 years, Robert Harold George; as well as daughters, Ginger Higgerson, Debra Dodge and husband Tommy; grandsons, Jason and Justin Dodge, and James Higgerson. She was also proceeded in death by her siblings, Freddie Hart, Mary Lou Lemonds, and Patty Pigioli.
She is survived by her son, Dwayne George and his wife Jeanette of Fishersville; her grandchildren Deanna Higgerson, Jacob Higgerson, Joseph Higgerson, Brenden Fulton, Brianna Fulton and her boyfriend Blaine Hudson, Noah George, and Naomi George. Along with numerous great grandchildren, as well as a large and loving extended family; and her son-in-law Richard Higgerson. Lastly, she is survived by her close friends, Cordelia Underwood and Shirley Robey.
A funeral service will be conducted on Tuesday, November 25, 2025, at 12:30 PM at Good Shepherd Church of the Nazarene with Pastor Charles Perkins officiating.
Betty will be laid to rest at Augusta Memorial Park in Waynesboro. A reception will follow the committal service at the church.
The family will receive friends on Tuesday, November 25, 2025, from 11:30 AM to 12:30 PM at Good Shepherd Church of the Nazarene in Stuarts Draft.
