Mrs. Betty Jane McLaughlin

She was born August 21, 1946 in Augusta County, Virginia to the late Wallace Houston Dameron who passed away in 1976 and Elsie Lee Thomas Dameron who passed away in 1998.

Betty was a homemaker and of the Mennonite Faith.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by brothers, Charles A. “Monk” Dameron in 1993, Ralph T. “Rat” Dameron in 2014; brother-in-law, Saford “Sonny” Taylor in 2011; grandson, Derrick Liptrap in 2021; and a nephew, Michael “Mike” Dameron in 2022.

Survivors include her four children, Eric McLaughlin, Sr. and wife Tina, Tonya Liptrap and husband James, Sonya Patterson, and Monica McLaughlin; sister, Mary “Sissy” Taylor; sisters-in-law, Margie G. and Carolyn Dameron; grandchildren, Darrell Liptrap, Eric McLaughlin, Jr., Megan Moreland and husband Stevie, Sara Cohron and fiance' Kadan; and great-grandchildren, Kenah and Cohen Liptrap, Bailee Rader, Adalyn Moreland, Cash and Conway McLaughlin. She also leaves a number of nieces and nephews, a special niece Penny Blake and her fur baby, Ethal May.

A funeral service will be held on Tuesday, May 5, 2026 at 1:00 p.m. at the Stuarts Draft Chapel of Reynolds Hamrick Funeral Homes with Pastor Earl Monroe officiating. Burial will follow in Rankin Cemetery.

Active pallbearers will be Stevie Moreland, Isaac Rader, Kadan Offenbacker, Eddie Dameron, Tommy Dameron and Hank Vaughn.

The family will receive friends from 6:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. on Monday, May 4, 2026 at the funeral home.
