Born April 23, 1924 in Stuarts Draft, she was the daughter of the late Truman C. Heishman and Maude Heishman McIntyre.
Mrs. Clarke was a member of Stuarts Draft Baptist Church. She was active in the Salt and Light Senior Adult Team, as well as the Elective Sunday School Class. Eunice worked as a weaver at the former Crompton Plant and after 25 years of faithful service she retired. She enjoyed gardening, cooking, cross stitching and embroidery. Although she enjoyed partaking in her many hobbies she always found the most joy in spending time with her family, especially her grandchildren and great-grandchildren. Those who knew her will remember her devotion to family, her wonderful sense of humor and her love for the Atlanta Braves.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Letcher A. Clarke; great-grandson, Noah Weston Kern; brothers, Lawrence A. (Jim) Heishman and Truman (Tom) Heishman.
Survivors include her loving daughter, Sharon (Clarke) Kern and husband, Russell of Stuarts Draft; granddaughters, Ashley M. Kern of Waynesboro and Jessica L. Kern and boyfriend, Michael Herndon of Stuarts Draft; great-grandchildren, Jaden S. Kern and John “Jack” Crawford both of Waynesboro; sister-in-laws, Donna Heishman Catehart and husband, Paul of PA, Madeline Clark of Harrisonburg and Moe Clark of Florida; nieces and nephews, Sandy Johnson, Mike Clark and wife Sue, Bill Heishman, Mike Heishman and wife, Connie and Patty Bishop.; as well as a number of other very special nieces and nephews.
A funeral service will be held at 11:00 A.M. on Thursday, June 6, 2013 at Stuarts Draft Baptist Church with Dr. William Kopp officiating. Burial will follow at Augusta Memorial Park.
Active pallbearers will be J.C. Crawford, Freddie Richardson, Fred Taylor, Robbie Henkel, Michael Herndon and Danny Johnson.
Honorary pallbearers will be members of her Sunday School class.
The family will receive friends from 5:00 P.M. until 7:00 P.M. on Wednesday, June 5, 2013 at the Stuarts Draft Chapel of Reynolds Hamrick Funeral Homes, 1870 Stuarts Draft Highway, Stuarts Draft.
