Garnett Brooks

Mr. Brooks was born on March 25, 1928 in Stuarts Draft, and was a son of the late Lacey and Mamie Lilly (Alley) Brooks. Following the death of his father, Garnett was raised by Charlie Maupin. Garnett served in the United States Army for five Years. He later retired after 35 years at General Electric. He enjoyed working on his 1966 GTO and going to the casino. He attended the Faith, Hope, and Love Fellowship.

On September 4, 1954 he married the former Mary Hall who preceded him in death on June 8, 2013.

Mr. Brooks is survived by his children, Faye Benavitch of Stuarts Draft, Douglas Brooks Sr., and wife Amy of Stuarts Draft; grandchildren, Andrea Wasiewski and husband Nicholas, Christopher Carter and wife Erin, Kristen Benavitch, Ashley Clifton and husband Ryan, Douglas Brooks Jr., and fiancé MacKenzie Moore, Dustin Brooks and wife Jenna; great-grandchildren, Ethan Clifton, Peyton Clifton, Liam Wasiewski, Raylan Carter, Lux Carter, Walker Brooks, Eli Acord, Noah Brooks, and one on the way, Hallie Mae Brooks; and special friends and family, Mike Benavitch, David Griffin, and Billy Lawson.

In addition to his parents and wife, Mr. Brooks was preceded in death by a daughter, Kathy Jo Davis.

A graveside service will be held on Tuesday March 1, 2022 at 2 PM at Rankin United Methodist Church Cemetery with Pastor Steve Ramsey officiating.

Active Pallbearers for the service will be Mike Benavitch, David Griffin, Doug Brooks Jr., Dustin Brooks, Chris Carter, and Bruce Brooks

There will be no visitation at the funeral home.
