Gene Clifford Wallace

Gene was born April 1, 1939, a son of the late Claude Clifford and Vietta Montrue Clowser Wallace.

He retired as a state meat inspector.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife, Barbara Faye Wallace; granddaughter, Kelsey Baska Hypes, one unborn great grandchild; brothers, Dennis Wallace, Eddie Wallace, Bill Wallace and Gary Wallace.

He honorably served his country in the United States Army in the 101st Airborne Division. He loved the outdoors, enjoyed time with his family, especially his grandchildren and great grandchildren. He was a proud Paw Paw. He enjoyed telling stories of growing up and especially his days as a paratrooper. He always enjoyed a cup of coffee and something sweet to eat.

Survivors include a son, Jeff Wallace (Kathy); daughter, Kimberly Baska (Greg); sister, Lois Whitacre (Kenneth); grandchildren, Jaime Marshall (Jeremiah), Jonathan Baska, Kahla Myers (Kyle), Josh Baska (Kati), Drake Wade (Rachel) Kori Wade (Briana), Kyle Wade (Melissa), as well as 12 great grandchildren and a number of cousins, nieces and nephews.

A funeral service will be held at 1:00 p.m. Friday, September 11, 2026 at the Stuarts Draft Chapel of Reynolds Hamrick Funeral Homes with Lee Hutchinson officiating. The family will receive friends from 11:00 a.m. until time of the service. Burial will follow in Augusta Memorial Park with military rites.

Active pallbearers will be Jonathan Baska, Jeremiah Marshall, Cameron Hypes, Dexter Ritchie, Kyle Wade and Kori Wade.

Honorary pallbearers will be Sawyer Hypes and Luke Ritchie.

The family requests that everyone dress casual.
