OBITUARY

Jerry Wade Campbell

August 22, 1953February 8, 2012

Jerry Wade Campbell, 58, of Waynesboro, passed away at home Wednesday, February 8, 2012, surrounded by his loving family. He was born on August 22, 1953, in Charlottesville, son of the late Raymond Austin and Mabel Fitzgerald Campbell. Jerry was a member of Faith Worship Center and retired on January 26, 2012, from Nibco, where he had worked for 35½years. Jerry loved and cherished his wife of 35 years. His kids and grandkids meant more to him than anything else. Ever since he was 12, playing music and singing was the biggest love of his life which he took a step further by playing bass and vocals in the Doyles River Gospel Band. When he wasn't hunting or fishing, you could find him at auctions and yard sales. He always stayed busy collecting antiques or refinishing furniture. He also had a passion for gardening. Jerry's 2 cats, Blacky and Grady, were like his own children. No matter how you felt, he could always put a smile on your face. His sense of humor was like no other, and anyone that crossed paths with him found themselves blessed to know him. He was truly a dedicated and successful man. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a sister, Linda Liptrap. Survivors include his wife, Lorraine H. "Prenny" Campbell; two sons, Rusty Harris of Waynesboro and Paul Harris and his wife, Chris, of Stuarts Draft; one daughter, Paula Brocato and her husband, John, of Staunton; six grandchildren, P.J., Chris, and Tara Harris, Travis, Whitney and John Brocato Jr.; great-grandchildren, Crew and Camden Harris, Kaitlyn, Heidi and Leah Brocato; one brother, Kenneth A. Campbell of Stuarts Draft; two sisters, Christine Meeks of Fishersville and Janet Kelly of Waynesboro. He is also survived by a number of nieces and nephews. The family will receive friends from 6 until 8 p.m. Friday, February 10, 2012, at Reynolds Hamrick Funeral Homes of Stuarts Draft. A service will be conducted 2 p.m. Saturday, February 11, 2012, at the Faith Worship Center with Pastor Dennis Bradley, Pastor Galen Combs and Charles Ramsey. Burial will follow at Stuarts Draft Mennonite Church Cemetery. Active pallbearers will be Tony Lowery, Malcolm Bradley, Roxy Liptrap, Dale Michael, Frankie Lee Whitesell, Bucky Robertson, Ralph Martin and Richard Hise. Honorary pallbearers will be Brandon, John, Sarah, Ed, Rosemarie, Lisa; and his grandchildren, Travis, Whitney, P.J., Chris, Tara and Johnny. I know that this is a little bit late. Jerry was a really good man. Ever since I was little he always hollered at me to come over and give him a hug. Now it's sad to know that when i go to my grandmas house it won't be the same. We miss you very much Jerry!

I only got to know Jerry for a short time, but he was the type person you felt that you had known all your life, made you feel very comfortable, made you life and smile. It was an honor and pleasure to share the little time that I did get to spend with Jerry, May God watch over your family.
Sincerely, Joey Mooneyham RN, Hospice

Paw paw, there's so many things that I never got the chance to say, but I hope you know how much I've always looked up to you and love you. I know you're my guardian angel now, and I couldn't have asked for a better one than you. I'd give anything for one more day with you and to hear your voice one last time. I can't stop listening to your cds, and everytime I hear you singing, I can feel my stomach drop. I miss you more than anything paw paw! -Love, your baby.
