Obituary of Lenard Randolph Fainter, Sr.
Lenard Randolph Fainter, Sr., 89, of Stuarts Draft passed away on Tuesday, March 16, 2021 at his home surrounded by his family. Born April 18, 1931 in Rockbridge County, he was a son of the late Lewis Grey and Mary (Goolsby) Fainter. On September 5, 1954 he married Betty Jane West. The two shared a blessed marriage of 66 years. Lenard was a member of Calvary United Methodist Church, Stuarts Draft. Prior to retirement, he worked as a truck driver. He was a U.S. veteran having served his country honorably with the Air Force. Lenard was a lifetime member of the Stuarts Draft VFW Post #9339 and a member of the Stuarts Draft Rescue Squad. He greatly enjoyed spending time with his grandchildren, riding motorcycles and working on cars. He will be remembered as a loving husband, father, brother, grandfather, great-grandfather, and uncle. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a daughter, Diane Marie Fisher; granddaughter, Nicole Lee Lowery; two brothers, Robert Lewis Fainter and Charles Fainter; three sisters, Mary Kimble, Anna Chafin, and Hilda Fisher and son-in-law, Steve Allen. He is survived by his loving wife, Jane Fainter; two daughters, Shanna Fainter Allen of Stuarts Draft and Bettina Fainter Lowery and husband, Jerry of Stuarts Draft; son, Lenard Randolph Fainter, Jr. and wife, Lisa of Staunton; two brothers, Kenneth Fainter of Stuarts Draft and William Fainter and wife, Linda of Stuarts Draft; grandchildren, Winter Claytor and fiancé, Jay Bodkin, Tiersa Lowery, Mindy Lowery, Cole Fainter, Kyle Fainter, Carrie Allen, and Kaitlyn Allen; great-grandchildren, Brittany Claytor, Nyasia Finley, Taevon Lowery, Taliyah Ramey, Layton Lowery, Ryleigh Coffey, Knox Coffey, Rowan Allen, and Aiden Allen; as well as a number of nieces and nephews. Following cremation, a graveside service will be held on March 24, 2021 at 2:00 p.m. at Calvary United Methodist Church Cemetery, 2179 Stuarts Draft Highway, Stuarts Draft with Pastor David Vaughan officiating. All will be required to follow COVID-19 guidelines with facemasks and social distancing. There will be no formal viewing or visitation at the funeral home but friends may visit the family at his home. In lieu of flowers, those desiring may make memorial contributions to Calvary United Methodist Church, 2179 Stuarts Draft Highway, Stuarts Draft, VA 24477 or the Stuarts Draft Rescue Squad, P.O. Box 260, Stuarts Draft, VA 24477. Arrangements have been entrusted to Reynolds Hamrick Funeral Homes of Stuarts Draft.
