

Born September 16, 1935 in Waynesboro, he was the son of the late Walter and Blanche (Fretwell) Pannell. On February 25, 1955 he married Shirley Ann Bosserman. The two shared 66 wonderful years of marriage together.
Leo attended Mount Vernon Church of the Brethren, Waynesboro. He was a U.S. veteran having served his country honorably with the Army and rising to the rank of Specialist Fourth Class. As an avid outdoorsman, he greatly enjoyed hunting, fishing, and going on camping trips with his family. He will be remembered as a loving husband, father, grandfather, great-grandfather, uncle and friend to many.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his brother, Sherwood Pannell and his sister, Judy Harris.
Survivors include his loving wife, Shirley Bosserman Pannell of Stuarts Draft; son, Wayne L. Pannell and wife, Melody of Greenville; grandson, Christopher Pannell of Stuarts Draft; granddaughter, Jennifer Spradlin and husband, Nick of Fishersville; great-grandchildren, Teagan and Isaiah Spradlin; a number of nieces and nephews; and several very close friends.
A memorial service will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Friday, March 4, 2022 at Mount Vernon Church of the Brethren, 90 Mt. Vernon Road, Waynesboro with Pastor Dwight Roetto officiating.
