Martha M. Campbell
October 14, 1924 – October 18, 2017
Martha Marie Campbell, 93, of Raphine, passed away on Wednesday, October 18, 2017 at her residence. She was born in Nelson County on October 14, 1924, a daughter of the late Churchill and Lovie Campbell. Mrs. Campbell was a devoted christian and believed in the old traditional way of living. Reading her Bible, quilting, working in her garden and canning were a few of her favorite hobbies. Martha was a wonderful cook and baker; she enjoyed cooking and teaching her family recipes. In addition to her parents, Martha was preceded in death by her husband, Lee Roy Campbell; son, Kenneth Campbell; grandsons, Jason and Jeremy Campbell and siblings, Wilde P. Campbell and Estie Phillips. Survivors include her children, Herbert W. Campbell and wife, Shelia of Stuarts Draft, Blain W. Campbell, Sr. and wife, Freda of Raphine and Janet Arlene Campbell of Raphine; seven grandchildren; 12 great- grandchildren and as well as numerous nieces, nephews, cousins and friends. A funeral service will be conducted at 11:00 a.m. on Monday, October 23, 2017 at the Waynesboro Chapel of Reynolds Hamrick Funeral Homes with Pastors Dennis Bradley and Fred Salmon officiating. Burial will follow at Mt. Paran Baptist Church Cemetery. Active pallbearers will be Herbert W. Campbell, Blain W. Campbell, Sr., Danny Campbell, Blain W. “ J.R.” Campbell, Jr., Calvin Campbell, Randall Campbell, Jerry Harris and Jerry Harris, Jr. Honorary Pallbearers will be her daughter, grandchildren and great-grandchildren. The family will receive friends from 5:00 p.m. until 7:00 p.m. on Sunday, October 22, 2017 at the funeral home. The family would like to express a heartfelt thank you to Dr. Marsh and his staff for the loving care of Mrs. Campbell and her family. So sorry to hear of Aunt Martha's passing. When I married into the family over 20 years ago, I remember that she was one of the first members of the extended family I met. She was a sweet and friendly last who will be missed.

Janet, Herbert Wayne, and Blain, so sorry to hear about Aunt Martha. She was such a dear lady. I have so many wonderful memories of her and the talks we had over the years. I know Dad thought so much of her. She will be greatly missed. My thoughts and prayers are with all of you.
