Martin Marty Frederick Tierney, Sr.

He was born November 24, 1926 in Hartford, Connecticut, son of the late Frederick Martin Tierney and Amelia Lucy Burke Tierney.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife, Margaret R. Tierney and a son, Albert William Tierney.

Mr. Tierney was a Navy veteran having served during World War II and was a retired truck driver. He enjoyed cooking, water skiing, and swimming. He was a member of the Teamsters Local 559.

He is survived by his children, Patricia Ann Duff and husband Charlie of Greenville, VA, Lynda Jean Rust of East Hartford, Conn, Martin Frederick Tierney, Jr. and wife Garnett of East Windsor, Conn, Teresa June Thompson and husband James of Stuarts Draft, VA and Andrew Tierney of GA; A number of grandchildren, great-grandchildren and great-great-grandchildren; one sister, Doris Tierney of Marlboro, Conn; daughter-in-law, Tammie Tierney of FL. He is also survived by special friends, Jeannetta Addison, Trish DeWitt and Virginia Sweet.

The family will receive friends from 6 to 8 p.m. Tuesday, July 2, 2013 at Stuarts Draft Chapel of Reynolds Hamrick Funeral Homes followed by military honors by the American Legion Post 340 at 8:00p.m.
