Michelle was born October 31st, 1968 in Waynesboro, Virginia to Lula Belle Sprouse and William Henry Sprouse, Jr.
For the last 3 years she was a loving daycare teacher at Natural Wonders in Verona, caring for infants and toddlers, loving them like they were her own.
This is where she found her true calling and what she enjoyed the most. Other job adventures included be a secretary at Artisan Construction Inc, a store associate at Piedmont Country Store, a dental assistant, UVA receptionist and cashier work. She loved working with people and touch the lives of many people.
She was a graduate of Western Albemarle High School Class of 1986. While attending she got the official journey with the love of her life David Wayne Rappold who she wed July 29th,1989 and as the years went on they raised two loving children, William Charleston Rappold( age 31) and DeAnna Leigh Rappold (age21).
Michelle found great joy in horseback riding, gardening and taking care of her flower beds, watching her daytime soap operas and taking care of all her pets and animals over the years. She loved spending time with family and being a motherly presence to anyone who needed it.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her brother, Stewart Sprouse and her sister Deborah Hughes.
Michelle is survived by her husband David Rappold of Staunton, Virginia; her two children, William Rappold of Staunton, Virginia and DeAnna Rappold of Waynesboro, Virginia; sisters, Donna Maupin of Bluffton, South Carolina and Lynita Sprouse-Nobles of Charlottesville, Virginia.
She also leaves her feline family Ace, Kilo as well as numerous nieces, nephews and friends.
A special thank you would like to be given to the staff of Natural Wonders for all the visits and support of Michelle in her final moments, as well as a special thank you would like to be given to the UVA medical staff and the staff at the Piedmont Hospice House in Charlottesville for all the care and support she received in the time of need.
The family will receive friends from 7:00 p.m. until 9:00 p.m. on Friday, July 24, 2026 at the Stuarts Draft Chapel of Reynolds Hamrick Funeral Homes and Crematory.
In lieu of flowers the family is accepting donations to help cover final expenses and medical care provided.
