Peggy S. Simmons
March 10, 1937 – May 4, 2018

Peggy Jane (Sensabaugh) Simmons, 81, of Stuarts Draft, passed away on Friday, May 4, 2018 at Shenandoah Nursing and Rehab Center. She was born in Augusta County on March 10, 1937, a daughter of the late Samuel Gibson and Louise (Conner) Sensabaugh.
Peggy was a devoted LPN for Drs. H. Joseph Williams and David Q. Massey. She had a great dedication to serving and caring for her patients. Peggy was a life-long member of Calvary United Methodist Church. In her spare time, she greatly enjoyed spending time with her family.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, James S. Simmons; siblings, Robert M. and Samuel Wayne Sensabaugh and Jean S. Cash; brother-in-law, Elwood C. Coffey; two nephews and one niece.
Survivors include her sisters, Shirley Fravel and her husband, Erskine, Heber Coffey, and Charlene Kerby and her husband, Lemuel; sisters-in-law, Priscilla and Gay Sensabaugh; brother-in-law, David L. Cash; extended friends, Hazel Jones, Dolores and Dawn Tutwiler and Vivian Jarvis; as well as numerous nieces, nephews, and great nieces and nephews.
A funeral service will be conducted at 2:00 p.m. on Wednesday, May 9, 2018 at Calvary United Methodist Church, 2179 Stuarts Draft Hwy, Stuarts Draft, with Pastors Nancy Vaughan and Charles Reynolds officiating. Burial will follow in the church cemetery.
Active pallbearers will be her nephews.
The family will receive friends from 6:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. on Tuesday, May 8, 2018 at the church.
In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made in Peggy’s memory to the church cemetery fund.
The family wishes to express a heartfelt thank you to the staff at Shenandoah Nursing Home and Rehab, as well as to the nursing staff at the UVA Augusta Dialysis Center for their loving care of Peggy and her family.
Arrangements have been entrusted to the Stuarts Draft Chapel of Reynolds Hamrick Funeral Homes.
