

He was born August 3, 1939, in Augusta County, a son of the late Melvin R. Eavers and Ruby (Grim) Eavers.
Raymond was a graduate of Wilson Memorial High School and Dunsmore Business College. He was a member of Mt. Vernon Church of Brethren. He was self-employed with Eavers Brothers Excavating for over 50 years until his retirement.
Raymond's interest included: classic cars (especially Corvettes), eating Sunday family meals at Amber’s, attending weekly "Board Meetings", and the companionship of a good dog.
He is survived by his loving children and their spouses, two sons and daughters-in-laws, Coy and Jenny Eavers of Staunton and Michael and Victoria Eavers of White Plains, NY; a daughter and son-in-law, Amber and Nick Martino of Staunton; six grandchildren, Abbey and Wyatt Eavers, Stone and Penelope Eavers, and Maggie and Cecilia Martino; one sister, Maxine Weaver; one brother, Guy C. Eavers and his wife, Judy; special friend, Shirley Hailey; and a number of nieces and nephews.
The family will receive friends from 6 p.m. until 8 p.m. on Thursday, April 10, 2025, at the Stuarts Draft Chapel of Reynolds Hamrick Funeral Home, 1870 Stuarts Draft Highway.
A funeral service will be conducted at 11 a.m. on Friday, April 11, 2025, at Mt. Vernon Church of Brethren, Stuarts Draft, followed by a private graveside burial.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Mount Vernon Church of the Brethren, 90 Mt. Vernon Drive, Waynesboro, VA 22980.
