

She was born August 4, 1916 in Augusta County, daughter of the late Dave and Nettie Brooks Whitesell.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Samuel E. Harris one son, George David Harris, and infant daughter, and two brothers and stepmother, Elva Whitesell.
Mrs. Harris was the oldest member of White Hill Church of the Brethren where she was a nursery teacher for numerous years. She was a special mother and grandmother. She loved spending time with her family, especially her grandchildren. Mrs. Harris was an active member of the Stuarts Draft Senior Center and was member of the Stuarts Draft Rescue Squad Auxiliary. The family would like to give special thanks to Dr. Dennis Hatter for the continuous care.
Survivors include a daughter, Florence "Sis" Ayers and husband Roy of Stuarts Draft; one son, Roger Harris and wife Linda of Stuarts Draft; daughter-in-law, Margaret Ann Harris of Stuarts Draft; grandchildren, Cathy and Diane Lilley, Sharon Moore, Brian and Eric Harris, Doug and Charlie Harris; great-grandchildren, Jenny, Stephanie, Danny, Brandon, Beth, Kadyn, Kyndall and Krystal; great-great-grandchildren, Madison, McKenzie, Tasia, Gracie and Mason.
The family will receive friends from 6:30 p.m. to 7:30 p.m. Sunday, October 21, 2012 at Reynolds Hamrick Funeral Homes of Stuarts Draft.
A service will be held at 2:00 p.m. Monday, October 22, 2012 in the White Hill Church of the Brethren with Pastor James Chappell officiating. Burial will follow in the church cemetery.
Active pallbearers will be her grandsons, great grandsons, Brian and Eric Harris, Doug and Charlie Harris, Danny and Brandon Sheets. Honorary pallbearers will be her grandchildren and friends attending the service.
