
He was born December 8, 1925 in Winnapeg, Canada, the son of the late John D. and Ruth Campbell Gynn.
He was honorably discharged from the United States Army after 28 years of service, and more recently retired as a livestock investigator for the Civil Service.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a sister, Eva June Spicher.
He was a member of Calvary United Methodist Church in Stuarts Draft.
Survivors include his wife, Margrit Gynn, two sons; Thomas D. Gynn and wife Terri of Spokane, Washington, Harold J. Gynn and wife Robin of Elberon, Virginia, a daughter, Bonnie Spires and husband Jimmie of Newport, News, five grandchildren; Jessica Spires, Jacob Spires, Amanda Gynn, Benjamin Gynn, Kathleen Parks and two great-grandchildren.
A service will be held 2:00 PM Wednesday, January 29, 2014 at Calvary United Methodist Church by Rev. Sarah Locke. Burial will follow in the church cemetery with military rites provide by American Legion Post 340.
The family will receive friends following the service in the church fellowship hall.
In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to the Food Pantry of Calvary United Methodist Church, 2179 Stuarts Draft Highway, Stuarts Draft, Virginia 24477.
