Ruth Harner

She was born January 3, 1920, a daughter of the late George and Mary Jordan Payne.

Ruth was a former member of New Hope United Methodist Church and retired from the former Leggett Department Store in Staunton.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Robert Kemper Harner, a son, Robert Edward Harner, a brother, Alfred Payne and a sister, Margaret Llewyan.

Survivors include two daughters; Kay Slagle and husband Keith of Stuarts Draft, Judith Ann Harner of Stuarts Draft, a brother, Ted Payne, sisters-in-law; Joyce Harner, Jane Harner,

two grandchildren; Shay Slagle, Brian Slagle, and a special friend, Beverly Caldwell.

A funeral service will be held 11:00 AM Monday, March 2, 2015 at New Hope United Methodist Church by Pastor Earl Monroe.

Burial will follow in Oak Lawn Cemetery of New Hope United Methodist Church.

The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service.
