Suzan Howell

Suzan Jane (White) Howell 76, of Stuarts Draft was called home on Sunday, April 24, 2022. Born January 21, 1946 in Brooklyn, NY she was the daughter of the late Agnes Titus (Segrist) White. She met Joseph K. Howell while attending college in Roanoke, VA and they married on May 4, 1969. The two shared 53 years of marriage together. Suzan was a longstanding member of Calvary United Methodist Church. She taught Sunday school for decades and was extremely dedicated to her students and her church family. She enjoyed spreading her love and faith with the Jelly Bean and M&M prayers. Suzan worked in the laboratory at Western State Hospital for 30 years. She enjoyed being a member of multiple civic groups as well as serving as a girl scout leader and WRE leader. Suzan loved all things that grow, she was an avid gardener and enjoyed being surrounded by animals and children. She enjoyed cooking for others and sharing her favorite recipes. She loved to read and shared this joy by taking children to the Augusta County library along with purchasing multiple copies of her favorite books to give to others. Survivors include her husband, Joseph K Howell, her daughter, Kathryn Howell-Sanzone and husband Daniel Sanzone, her son, Randy Howell and wife Renee Howell, her daughter, Beth Howell, three grandchildren, Andrew, Shannon and Ryan Howell, and sister, Claudia Ann Drummer. The family will receive friends from 6:00pm until 8:00pm on Monday, May 2, 2022 at Reynolds Hamrick Funeral Homes, 1870 Stuarts Draft Highway, Stuarts Draft. A funeral service will be held at 2:00pm on Tuesday, May 3, 2022 at Calvary United Methodist Church, 2179 Stuarts Draft Highway with Pastor David Vaughan officiating.
