Obituary of Thomas Stevenson Leitch
Thomas Stevenson “Opa” Leitch, Jr., 72, of Waynesboro, Virginia, passed away Sunday, February 21, 2016 at his residence. He was born in Kearny, New Jersey on May 23, 1943, a son of the late Thomas Stevenson, Sr. and Jeanie Leitch. Opa proudly served his country in the United States Navy. He worked as a maintenance mechanic for Genie Garage Door Company. He was a big kid at heart, always playing with cars and Legos. Opa enjoyed watching Nascar and listening to Willie Nelson. He was a strong willed, full blooded Scottish man with a loving and kind heart. He was a hero to many. Most of all, he loved spending time with his family. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his siblings, Billy Leitch, June Carbone, Donald Leitch and Barbara Clark. Left to cherish his memory is his beloved wife of 37 years, Hope “Oma” Leitch; three sons, Thomas Leitch,Jr. and his wife, Stephanie, Eric Smaridge, and Billy Leitch and his wife, Becky; three daughters, Kelli Short, Susan Coppola and her husband, Sal, and Jenna Claytor and her husband, Paul; sister, Mary Bustard; as well as numerous grandchildren, great grandchildren , extended families and friends. Opa also leaves behind his four legged friend, Bella. Following Opa’s wishes for cremation, no services will be conducted at this time. Family and friends wishing to express condolences may send flowers to the families’ residence. Arrangements have been entrusted to the Stuarts Draft Chapel of Reynolds Hamrick Funeral Homes.
