Wayne Edmond Painter

Wayne Edmond Painter, 72, of Stuarts Draft passed away on Tuesday, April 23, 2019 at his residence. He was born in Augusta County on July 17, 1946, a son of the late James Edmond and Earl Bernice (Harris) Painter. Wayne was a graduate of Riverheads High School. He proudly served his country in the United States Navy. Wayne worked for G.E., DuPont and most recently as an Electrical Assistant for the city of Staunton. He was a member of Mount Joy Church. Wayne was an avid sports fan; he was inducted into the Riverheads High School Hall of Fame in 2002 and spent much of his time coaching many youth baseball and football leagues. Left to cherish his memory is his wife, Terasa Melinda “Teddy” (Nuckols) Painter; children, Angie Clymore (David), Lana Painter (John Keys, III), Wayne Edmond “Chip” Painter, Jr. (Brittany Dotson); brother, Clayton “Pete” Painter (Kathy); grandchildren, Ashley Defibaugh, Lauren Clymore Rathburn (Wes), Zach Clymore, Lottie Obst and Peyton Mays; great-grandchildren, Bailey Blackwell and Chance Rathburn; special nephew, Kit Painter; as well as numerous extended family; special friend, Buddy Holbert; as well as additional friends throughout the Riverheads Athletic Community. A memorial service will be conducted at 2:00 p.m. on Thursday, April 25, 2019 at Mount Joy Church in Raphine, with Rev. David Taylor officiating. Following the service, the family will receive friends in the church’s social hall. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations in Wayne’s memory may be made to the Riverheads High School Athletics Boosters. The family would like to express a heartfelt thank you to the staff with Augusta Health Hospice of the Shenandoah and Dr. Dennis Hatter for their loving care of Wayne and his family. Arrangements have been entrusted to the Stuarts Draft Chapel of Reynolds Hamrick Funeral Homes.
