Anne I. Walker

Anne I. (Wisnieski) Walker, 82, passed away unexpectedly, Tuesday, January 17, 2012 at Emeritus @ Eddy Pond in Auburn, Massachusetts. Anne was married to the late James E Walker of South Deerfield, Ma and St Petersburg, Florida.

Anne was born in South Deerfield, Ma on August 31, 1929, the daughter of Anthony and Victoria (Albus) Wisnieski. She was graduated from Deerfield High School in 1946 and Springfield Hospital School of Nursing in 1950. Anne worked as a Registered Nurse at Franklin County Hospital for 13 years and was employed by the town of Deerfield as Community and School nurse for 18 years. Anne volunteered as an EMT with the South Deerfield Fire Department; she was a member of the Women’s Firemen Auxiliary, a secretary for the Deerfield Unit of the Salvation Army and a member of the St James Choir. She retired to Florida with her husband Jim (who passed 1-15-09), where she volunteered at the St Petersburg Florida Free Clinic for several years.

Anne was preceded in death by eight of her nine siblings, Wiktor, Michal, Lucya, Karol and Anthony Wisnieski, Mary Wilson, Helen Donnis, and Juki Yazwinski. Jean King is the remaining surviving sister, living in Texas.

Anne was a resident of South Deerfield for over 55 years and a resident of St Petersburg, FL for 28 years. She leaves a son, James P. of Dudley, Ma; Gerri Beagle and her husband Robert of Wakefield, RI; John Michael and his wife Channing of Richmond, Virginia; and Judy Bardwell and her husband Erik of Deerfield, Ma. She had 4 grand children: Paul Sysun of Salt Lake City Utah; Cara Cormier and husband Ray from Hope Valley, RI; MacKenzie and Cassidy Bardwell from Deerfield, Ma. She is also survived by an energetic great grandson Ryan Cormier.

We will remember our mother who always brought the family together with card games, especially cribbage and bingo as well as sewing, knitting, crocheting and rug braiding projects. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations can be made to the So. Deerfield Fireman’s Association, 84 Greenfield Rd, So. Deerfield MA 01373. At her request, there will be no calling hours. The funeral service will be held Friday January 27th 10am at the Holy Family Parish, 29 Sugarloaf Street, South Deerfield, MA.
