He was born on December 5, 1976 in Manila in the Philippines. He moved to the United States at eight months old and grew up in Richmond Hill and East Meadow, New York and Mt. Carmel, Pennsylvania. He graduated as the valedictorian of Our Lady of Lourdes Regional High School in Shamokin, Pennsylvania, where he played football.
He attended Swarthmore College in Pennsylvania, where he played football and lacrosse and met Ariane Liazos. They graduated together in 1998, and the two wed on August 24, 2002. They lived in Cambridge, Massachusetts, New York City, Hoboken, New Jersey and Princeton, New Jersey before moving to Lincoln over twelve years ago.
He worked as a derivatives trader in New York before earning a master’s degree from Brandeis University in software engineering and working in data analytics for both banking and healthcare companies.
He was above all a devoted father. He rearranged his schedule to make lacrosse games, soccer games, swim meets, plays, parades, and school events. He loved skiing with his family at Jay Peak, Vermont and visiting beaches on family trips to Hawaii. He also loved spending time with friends and enjoying an IPA.
He is survived by his wife Ariane, his children Alexander, Georgia, and Marcelo Buendia, his parents Antonio and Marylou Buendia, his sister Marie Woytowich, and his beloved extended family and friends.
Services from the Duckett - J.S. Waterman & Sons Funeral Home, 656 Boston Post Rd. (Rt. 20) SUDBURY on Thursday July 14, 2022 at 9:00 AM, with a Mass of Christian Burial in St. Anselm Church, 100 Landham Rd., Sudbury at 10 o'clock. Visiting hours will be Wednesday from 4-8 PM in the Funeral Home. Interment Lincoln Cemetery.
