
Born in Malden, MA to William Britton and Mary Twigg Britton on November 17, 1920, she grew up in West Medford and graduated from Medford High School and Katharine Gibbs Secretarial School. She also attended Northeastern University where she majored in English. She was the secretary for the Vice President of State Street Bank in Boston. She provided loving and tender care at Medfield State Hospital and Oak Knoll Healthcare Center. She enjoyed the many friendships she had with her co-workers.
She was predeceased by her brother, Robert Britton, of York Harbor, ME and sister, Beverly McCabe, of Miami, FL.
She was predeceased by her husband, Ernest Burch Lorett, with whom she had seven children: Sherry Anne Lorett of Medfield, MA, with whom she resided after her retirement at age 85, Mark Pierre Lorett, of Medfield, MA, John Britton Lorett, of San Francisco, CA, Burch Nicholas Lorett (deceased), Anne Pendelton Lorett (deceased), Elisabeth Anne Dolan, of Goffstown, NH, and Christopher Robert Lorett, of Medfield, MA. She had many grandchildren, great-grandchildren, and great-great-grandchildren whom she loved very much.
She, her husband and oldest daughter, Sherry, lived for a year in France and travelled extensively in Europe. She was a homemaker for many years, residing mostly in Medfield, MA. She summered at her family home in York Harbor, ME.
She loved reading, especially quality detective novels and literature, playing solitaire and a good game of Scrabble. Her favorite color was red, and everybody knew it.
A family remembrance will be held at a later date.
