

.Barbara Stickle Mode passed away peacefully on Tuesday. Nov. 29 after spending Thanksgiving with her children and grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her husband, Philip G. Mode and her parents, Mildred and Charles Stickle. Mrs. Mode had lived on School Street in Wayland since 1960. She has been a resident at Traditions of Wayland since 2008.
Born in New Rochelle, New York , Barbara moved to Massachusetts as a child and was graduated from Milton High School in 1945. She continued her education studying retailing and interior design at Lasell College and went on to a successful career in the design field. Barbara is most noted for the Sudbury business she developed, Barbara Mode Interiors. Her design work was featured in the Boston Junior League Showhouse and in both the Boston Globe and Boston Magazine.
After raising her family, Barbara became active in the alumni association of her alma mater, Lasell College and served as both its President and as a Trustee of the Lasell. Her work on behalf of Lasell was a source of great joy to her.
Barbara will be greatly missed by her two children, Joel Mode of Sudbury and his wife Oreon Carter Mode and Felicia Alexander of Langhorne, Pennsylvania and her husband David, as well as her grandchildren, Hannah and Carter Mode, Megan, Paige and Justin Alexander and Justin's wife, Sarah Farash. Barbara also leaves behind her older sister, Jean Goddard of Framingham and nieces Charlene Lyle and Lindsay Kimball, nephews John Goddard, Peter Goddard, Davis Goddard and Charles Scheffreen and their families.
In Lieu of flowers, donations can be made to Lasell Alumni, Inc. and sent to Lasell College Alumni Relations, 1844 Commonwealth Avenue, Newton, MA 02466 Visiting hours will be Friday December 2nd 3:00-7:00 PM at Duckett Funeral Home 656 Boston Post Road Sudbury and the funeral service will be Saturday December 3rd 10 AM also at Duckett Funeral Home.
