

Charles was a resident of Sudbury since 2019 and previously lived in Brockton, Massachusetts since 1967. Charles was an HVAC Design Engineer; his notable building projects include designing the first underground water tank system that used the body warmth of human occupants to balance heating and cooling temperatures of a building (the Transportation Building Boston, featured in Time Magazine), 200 Clarendon Street, Boston (John Hancock Tower), and King Khalid City in Saudi Arabia, as well as Lincoln-Sudbury Regional High School. In his younger years, Charles was an avid bowler and won numerous candlepin and duckpin bowling tournaments and trophies. He especially enjoyed spending time with his family.
He is preceded in death by his wife of nearly 60 years, Sandra Marie Caffarella, who passed 3 months ago, and lovingly remembered by his sons, Charles A. Caffarella, Jr., his wife, Beverly, and their daughters Christina and Amanda of Sudbury; James W. Caffarella, his fiancée Darcey Rice, and her children Cassie and Nolan of Littleton; and Scott W. Caffarella of Quincy.
A private family Celebration of Life will be held on Friday, November 5th (which would have been Charles’ 80th birthday) at Duckett Funeral Home of J.S. Waterman & Sons, 656 Boston Post Road, Sudbury, followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at 11:00 am at Ascension Parish (formerly Our Lady of Fatima Church), 160 Concord Road, Sudbury, with interment following at Mount Pleasant Cemetery, Concord Road, Sudbury.
