Dennis Raymond Tiede died peacefully at home on October 20, 2023 after a brave battle against stage four colon cancer. He was born on March 16, 1979 in Rochester, New York. Dennis was raised in Rochester and graduated with degrees from both Cazenovia College and Hunter College.
While in college, Dennis started his career pursuing acting which led him to a little known town in Maine called Monmouth, that happened to have a professional Shakespearean theater. It was there that he met his future wife, Meg, who was working in the box office that summer.
After college Dennis moved to Boston where his passion shifted to education and helping underprivileged youth. He worked at United Teen Equality Center in Lowell before being offered a job at the Arthur Academies charter school in Portland, Oregon.
Dennis and Meg moved across the country in 2006 to start their life together in the Pacific Northwest. They were married on October 16, 2009 in Niagara Falls, New York. Their legendary wedding set the bar for revelry that every subsequent family wedding has tried to match.
They welcomed their daughter Keenan in 2012. It was during this time that Dennis helped found a charter school called Knova Learning and he would dedicate the rest of his career to advancing access to quality education for all students. Their son Hudson joined the family in 2013. Soon after Hudson’s birth they returned to the East Coast and eventually settled in Framingham, Massachusetts. Dennis’s career path led him next to Exalt Education and managing operations for charter schools in Arkansas where he took great pride in the impact of his team on the lives of the students they served.
There was nothing Dennis loved more than being a father to Keenan and Hudson, and husband to Meg. To his children he was the funniest, most adventure-loving dad on the planet. He was such a beloved son, brother, uncle, and friend. They coined the phrase “he would give you the shirt off his back” because of Dennis Tiede. There was no one kinder, more generous or thoughtful. He whole-heartedly cared about other people and let them know it. For those lucky enough to have had him in their lives, he will be missed, every single day.
Dennis is survived by his wife of 14 years, Meg, their children Keenan and Hudson, parents Ray and Sue Tiede, brother Brian, his wife Caroline, their children Joshua and Andrew. His in-laws Ave and Chip Chuprevich, sister-in-law Kate Carreiro, her husband AJ, their son Alfie; sister-in-law Annie Chuprevich, her husband Neil Howker and their daughter Quinn. As well as numerous beloved aunts, uncles, cousins and friends who meant the world to him.
Celebrations of Dennis’ life will be held in Rochester and Framingham in March 2024. Please contact Meg Tiede or Sue Tiede for additional details.
In lieu of flowers we would welcome donations to the Theater at Monmouth in his memory. https://theateratmonmouth.my.salesforce-sites.com/donate/?dfId=a0n3s00000UzLlgAAF&
