

Edna Stiles Tighe, age 89, of Sudbury Massachusetts, died at Mount Auburn Hospital in Cambridge, on Saturday, January 31, 2015.
She is survived by her husband Lawrence W. (Bert) Tighe; her son Peter of Austin TX; her son Kevin and companion Deborah Park of Holland, Ma; and her son Foss, his wife Linda and daughters Coriander and Holly of Framingham, MA. She is also survived by a sister, Lois Edgerly of Cambridge; and brother, Parker Stiles of Wellesley.
Edna graduated from Jackson College, a part of Tufts University, with a major in Biology. She married Bert Tighe in 1947.
She enjoyed gardening and cooking. In 1978 she took a cooking class at La Varenne Cooking School in Paris where she learned cooking techniques which have delighted her friends and family ever since.
She loved pottery. Her son, Foss, encouraged her to take classes at deCordova Museum in Concord. The pots she created are beautiful and reflect her love of nature.
She loved spending time on Cape Cod Bay where she enjoyed gathering oysters, clams and quahogs. Following in her father Len Stiles' footsteps, she liked to fish for flounder off Sagamore Beach.
While Edna held very strong opinions at times, she showed empathy for the different needs of her children.
There will be a private graveside service conducted by Duckett Funeral Home of Sudbury, MA. Friends and family are cordially invited to help celebrate Edna’s life on Thursday, February 5th at the 29 Sudbury Restaurant, located at 29 Hudson Road in Sudbury, MA. The reception will last from 11:00 am to 1:00 pm.
In lieu of sending flowers, consider a donation to The Garden in the Woods in Framingham (http://www.newenglandwild.org) which was one of Edna's favorite places. She also loved birds. The Audubon Society would also welcome donations in her memory.
