Eleanor Robinson

She was the daughter of Jane Vanderpool and Harold Wright. Eleanor grew up in Boston’s South End with her younger sister, Doris, who is deceased.

Eleanor married James “Lloyd” Robinson Jr., now deceased, and from that union came four daughters, Marilyn, Valerie, Andrea, now deceased, and Janine.

She was a student at Boston public elementary schools, graduated from Girls’ High School, attended Boston Clerical and furthered her education in human resources management at Northeastern University.

Organization and efficiency came easily to her and she used these skills to excel at her administrative assistant positions at United Community Services, the Black Ecumenical Council, Shawmut Bank, the METCO program and the Massachusetts Pre-engineering program at Wentworth Institute before her semi-retirement.

She was a lifelong learner with an open mind and a sense of humor who touched everything with creativity and style. She enjoyed art, especially classes in water color. She loved music ,and listening to her favorite recording artist Sarah Vaughn, and the piano style of Oscar Petersen which soothed her during her final days battling cancer. She also enjoyed travel and being with friends on trips to the Caribbean and Spain.

She told her children there was nothing they could not do, or try. She emphasized the importance of education, and provided encouragement and support to every family member when they needed it, and reminded all when they were not moving in the right direction.She was thoughtful and humble, yet strong and mentally tough - with integrity, and believed that doing unto others as you would have them do unto you, is the highest standard of personal behavior and responsibility and she did not hesitate to speak truth to power or speak out against injustice. She is at rest and we will miss her.

Visitation will be held at Duckett - J.S. Waterman & Sons Funeral Home, 656 Boston Post Road, Sudbury, MA 01776, on August 21, 2026, from 11:00 am to 11:30 am, followed by a Funeral Service at the funeral home from 11:30 am to 12:30 pm.

Interment will take place at Blue Hills Cemetery, 700 West St, Braintree, MA 02184.
