

. Dr. Eugene Umberto Piazza, 91, of Framingham, MA and former resident of 45 years of Sudbury, passed away peacefully on October 25, 2021. He was the beloved husband of 58 years of Nina Piazza; Loving father of Andrea (Gary) Wexler of Redding, CT and Paul (CJ) Piazza of Framingham; Adoring grandfather of Heather, Ryan and Caroline Wexler of Redding, CT and Alyson and Brayden Piazza of Framingham; brother of Harvey (Sharon) Piazza of North Little Rock, AR and Elfreida Bridges of Little Rock, AR;
Dr. Piazza was educated at Hendrix College and the University of Arkansas Medical School. He was a respected psychiatrist with Mt. Auburn Hospital, Cambridge Hospital, Boston Childrens Hospital and Judge Baker Children’s Center, where he was named medical director of the Childrens Hospital psychosomatic Unit. While there, he recognized the need for adolescent treatment, a segment of people that received little focus at that time. He later established a private practice through Emerson Hospital and at his home office in Sudbury for the treatment of anorexia and bulimia in teens and children.
In addition to his work in both clinical and private practices, he was an attending physician for Harvard Medical School, was a member of the Mass Medical Society, and belonged to the Sierra Club. As a younger man, he was an avid runner and hiker, and he climbed Mt Kathadin for the second time at age 70. He loved traveling all over the world and most notably visited the Galapagos Islands, Europe, Fiji, and Hawaii. When at home, he enjoyed gardening.
Visitation will be held Monday, November 1 from 4-7 PM at the Duckett-J.S. Waterman & Sons Home of Memorial Tribute, 656 Boston Post Road/Route 20, Sudbury. All guests must wear masks in accordance with the town mandate. Thank you for your understanding.
