

Frederick R. Garrity of Sudbury died Wednesday, Nov. 26, 2014. He was 90 and the husband of the late Winifred D. (Turner) who died in 2011. He is survived by his son, Stephen E. Garrity of Berlin and his son Thomas R.Garrity and his wife Suzanne M. of Princeton. He also leaves his granddaughter, Samantha V. Garrity of Berlin; a sister in law, Virginia Garrity of Saco, Maine and several nieces and nephews. He was the brother of the late Lillian Edwards and William Garrity and the father in law of the late Mary Susan (Cooper) Garrity. Frederick was born in Leominster, the son of the late Frederick M. and Marie J. (Proulx) Garrity. He graduated from Leominster High School in 1942 and worked as a machinist as he furthered his education; graduating with Honors, earning a B.S. degree in Business Management from American International College (AIC) in Springfield. He was a member of Alpha Chi Fraternity. From there he continued his education receiving a M S Degree in Business Administration from Syracuse University and later graduating from Harvard Business School. He was employed by the former Harbridge House, Inc. in Boston as a consultant for the company with various outside contracting sources including the Federal Government. Frederick was an avid outdoorsman. He enjoyed back packing, canoe trekking, and downhill skiing with his family. During his youth, he spent several years as a camp counselor at Camp Wanocksett, Dublin, NH and a number of years on the ski patrol in Stowe, VT. He also enjoyed flying and received his pilot’s license at Fitchburg Airport and operated his own plane. A graveside service will be held Friday, Dec. 5, 2014 at 11:00 am at New Town Cemetery, Sudbury Center. Calling hours will be at the Duckett-J. S. Waterman & Sons Home of Memorial Tribute, 656 Boston Post Rd., Rt. 20, Sudbury on Thurs., Dec. 4, from 4:00 to 7:00 pm.
