Helen Ann Burgarella, of Sudbury, passed peacefully on February 7, 2020, at the age of 93, surrounded by her family. She is survived by her husband Joseph; her son James and wife Liyu, their daughter Meisui; and her daughter Ann Lisa.
Born in Novia Scotia, Helen made Massachusetts her home in 1949. She married Joe in 1955 and they moved into their current house in Sudbury in 1958. Helen worked for Macy’s for over 24 years, a career she enjoyed and found fulfilling.
Never one to be idle, Helen took pleasure in gardening, cooking and maintaining her home in retirement, activities she continued to perform until her last days. Helen was a devoted wife and excelled at being a mom. Her children were never far from her thoughts and they, along with Joe, will miss her terribly.

Helen and Joe were great neighbors. I remember when they were building their home, the project that Joe kept refining for many years. Helen was a kind and gentle lady, she engaged with positive words and encouragement whenever we met from time to time over the past 60 years. As an awkward adolescent I clearly remember her urging and insisting that I hold her newborn daughter, the first infant I ever held, she was truly a trusting and confident mother on that day! She will remain in my heart, as she passed on my birthday.
My condolences to Joe, Jim, Lisa, and family.
