Ian Cecil Cozier, age 56, passed away after a long illness on September 27, 2026 surrounded by his loving family. Ian was born in Boston, MA on May 21, 1970 to Cecil L. Cozier and Charleen Cozier Heard. When he was a young child, he and his twin sister, Rhonda, lived briefly in Barbados, West Indies, the native country of his father. Upon returning to the US, he lived in Mattapan, MA, and attended Brookline High School through the METCO Program. Ian would go on to graduate from Framingham State University where he was a starter (point-guard) on the men’s basketball team. He eventually settled in Milford, MA where he raised his three children.
Ian was predeceased by his father, Cecil Cozier, and uncle, Charles H Kelly. He is survived by his wife Syraida and their children Tatiana (Hailey), Domenic, and Kiana Cozier (Blair); his mother Charleen and step-father Donald Heard, and his in-laws James and Martha Maguire; his siblings Yvette Cozier D’Amico (Theodore), Rhonda Cozier Ramjattan (Ralph), Andre Heard (Danielle), and Christopher Cozier (Rashi); grandchildren Josie and Cayson Salamone; nieces and nephews Sebastian (Rosemarie) and Alexandra D’Amico, Zoe and Aimee Heard, Maya and Rachael Ramjattan, and Mason and Pierson Cozier; cousins Sean Kelly, Joi Kelly, Christopher Briggs (Erica), and Ginea Briggs; his aunt Irene Briggs, and a host of friends from the neighborhood where he was raised, to Brookline Public Schools, to Framingham State University, and beyond. Ian loved all things family- and sports-related. He was a lifelong fan of the Celtics, Patriots, and Red Sox. He also enjoyed a good barbeque! Nothing made him happier than cheering and tailgating at his son Domenic’s Holy Cross football games, getting together with college friends at the annual Brown School Blowout, or coaching his children’s’ many sports teams. Throughout his life, Ian was cherished and beloved—steadfast in his devotion, faithful in his commitments, and loyal in the ways that matter most. In both quiet moments and daily responsibilities, he carried himself with a constancy that offered comfort and strength to those around him. He will be remembered with deep respect and enduring gratitude by all who were blessed to know him.
