Jeanne Hubelbank, a beloved wife, mother, sister, and nature enthusiast, passed away peacefully on March 18th, 2024. Born on May 17th, 1943, in Connecticut, Jeanne was the cherished daughter of Paul and Ruth, and a treasured sister to Margery Johnson and Louise Lehman. Her upbringing on Long Island, with countless days spent at Jones Beach alongside her family, fostered a deep-rooted love of the ocean.
Educated at Cedar Crest College, Jeanne embarked on an academic journey that laid the cornerstone for her lifelong dedication to education. Venturing to Belgium after college, she passionately served as an elementary school educator, enriching the lives of her students while embracing European culture. Upon returning to the United States, Jeanne settled in the Boston area, where she continued her career as a dedicated teacher and built a life filled with love, family, and cherished memories.
In 1975, sailing off the shores of Massachusetts, Jeanne exchanged vows with her beloved husband Mark, embarking on a journey of love and companionship that spanned nearly five decades. Their joy multiplied with the arrival of their son, David. A tireless seeker of knowledge, Jeanne pursued her Ph.D. from Boston College in educational evaluation in her late 40s, embodying her unwavering commitment to academic excellence. She loved her work and continued as an educational evaluation consultant until her final months.
Jeanne's passion for sailing in Marblehead Harbor, her annual summer vacation to Maine, and her deep appreciation for classical music, bird watching, and gardening were just a few reflections of her vibrant spirit. Jeanne also adored cats and found comfort and companionship in their presence.
Jeanne is survived by her husband Mark of Sudbury, MA, and her son David and wife Laura of Newmarket, NH.
She will be dearly missed by all who had the privilege of knowing her. Her warmth, kindness, and zest for life touched the hearts of everyone she encountered.
A visitation for Jeanne will be held Saturday, March 23, 2024 from 4:00 PM to 7:00 PM at Duckett Funeral Home of J.S. Waterman & Sons, 656 Boston Post Road, Sudbury, MA 01776.
