Joan passed peacefully in the presence of her family at Rose Monahan Hospice Home in Worcester. She was born and lived in Belmont, then Marlborough, then a long time resident of Sudbury. She was a loving wife to the late Edward Schow and a mother of their sons Kenneth, Douglas and Paul.
She is survived by her sons, Kenneth Schow, his wife Donna and their children Sarah and Joseph; Douglas Schow, his children Matthew, Nicholle, Jennifer, her husband James and their children Maeve, Liam, Colin and Declan; Paul Schow and his children Cody, Abbey, Jared and his wife Sarah.
Joan worked at Raytheon, Prime Computer and Parmenter VNA. She was a highly active member in her community with the Sudbury Militia, Sudbury Historical Society, Sudbury Food Pantry, Rosie's Place in Boston, Women's Fellowship group and the Memorial Congregational Church in Sudbury.
Joan's home was central to her family and friends. She hosted many holidays, showers, graduations, birthdays and many extended family reunions. She cherished her home gatherings, reading on the porch and walking with her dog. She also enjoyed her cottage in Bourne and walks along the canal.
There will be a Remembrance Gathering at Duckett Funeral Home of J.S. Waterman & Sons Home of Memorial Tribute, 656 Boston Post Road, Sudbury MA on Thursday, January 25, 2024 from 4PM - 7PM.
A Celebration of Life will be held at Memorial Congregational Church, 26 Concord Road, Sudbury on Friday, January 26, 2024 at 11AM.
The family extends their gratitude and appreciation to the dedicated staff of the Rose Monahan Hospice Home in Worcester.
In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to Rose Monahan Hospice House, St. Jude Children's Research Hospital, or MCC Memorial and Gift Fund.
