Beloved husband of 52 years of the late Barbara Riedl; loving father of Kenneth Riedl (Sharon) of Cortland, NY, and Edward Riedl (Elisa) of Framingham; cherished grandfather of Jenna, Sophie, Tim, Amanda, and Oliver; beloved brother of Elizabeth Garino (Guy).
John was the son of the late Jacob and Mary (Krogler) Riedl. He grew up in Elmhurst (Queens), NY and was a graduate of Newtown High School. He resided in New York City for 69 years before moving to Middleboro, and most recently spent time in Cortland, NY near his son Kenneth.
John started his career as a draftsman for a commercial baking equipment company and went on to spend 26 years as a machine designer for Nabisco, later working as a designer for Industrial Acoustics Company. John was an avid model railroader his entire life and also enjoyed building model aircraft and ships. He was a knowledgeable enthusiast of classic movies and enjoyed reading on a broad range of subjects.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be held Saturday, March 16 at 10 AM at Our Lady of Fatima Church, 160 Concord Road, Sudbury, followed by interment at Edgell Grove Cemetery, 53 Grove Street, Framingham. Visitation will be Friday, March 15, from 4-7 PM at the Duckett-J.S. Waterman & Sons Home of Memorial Tribute, 656 Boston Post Road (Route 20), Sudbury.
