Joline Marie Nicholson

Joline Marie (Bonin) Nicholson of Clinton, MA, and formerly of Sudbury, MA, passed away peacefully at home on Monday, July 20, 2026, after a life of 100 rich and fruitful years, marked by devotion to God and to her family.

Joline was married to the love of her life, John D. Nicholson, for 56 years, until his passing in 2008. She was predeceased by two sons, Mark and Peter. Joline leaves behind a large close family who loved her deeply: John Nicholson and his wife Claire, of Marlborough, MA, Kathleen Scherr and her husband Joseph of Bolton, CT, Susan Niro and her husband Joseph of Bolton, MA, Beth Buckley and her husband William of Raynham, MA, and Maura Nicholson of Clinton, MA. Her 11 grandchildren and 11 great grandchildren, in whom she delighted, will miss their dear Nana Jo greatly.

Joline was the daughter of Rodolphe C. and Bertha (Venne) Bonin, and the sister of the late Constance (Bonin) Haeberle. Raised in West Roxbury, MA, Joline graduated from Girls’ Latin School in 1943 and Framingham State Teachers College in 1947. Joline subsequently attended Boston University Graduate School of Education, where she earned her Master’s Degree. She taught high school Home Economics before raising her family. Joline returned to the workforce to serve at Montrose School as Assistant Head of School, and then Head of School between 1981 - 1983. In all circumstances, Joline’s life was one of service to the work to which God called her.

Visiting hours for Joline will be held Thursday, July 23, at Duckett Funeral Home, 656 Boston Post Road, Sudbury, MA, from 4:00 to 7:00 p.m. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Friday, July 24, at 11:00 a.m. at Ascension Parish, Our Lady of Fatima Church, 160 Concord Road, Sudbury, MA.
